Cineworld Cinemas, lancée par des israéliens, Mooky (1) et Israel Greidinger de Haïfa, est une entreprise d’exploitation cinématographique, dont le siège social est basé à Londres.
L’exploitant britannique Cineworld, deuxième chaîne de cinémas au monde, est au bord de la faillite. Avec une lourde dette, l’exploitant jugé trop gourmand dans ses investissements et qui ne s’est toujours pas totalement remis de la crise du Covid, envisage un « placement volontaire en dépôt de bilan ».
(1). Moshe « Mooky » Joseph Greidinger est un homme d’affaires israélien et le PDG de Cineworld, la deuxième plus grande chaîne de cinéma au monde. Avec son frère Israel, ils détiennent 29% de l’entreprise. Il était auparavant PDG de Cinema City International, fondée à l’origine par son grand-père.
SELON LA BBC. « Cineworld has confirmed it is considering filing for bankruptcy in the US, as the cinema chain continues to struggle with $5bn worth of debt.
But the company, which also owns the Picturehouse chain in the UK, insisted its cinemas « remain open for business » and that there would be « no significant impact » on jobs.
Cineworld employs more than 28,000 people globally. Like other cinema chains, Cineworld was hit hard by the pandemic.
