L’homme d’affaires franco-israélien Patrick Drahi, propriétaire de la chaîne i24 News, s’est positionné avec Arthur pour racheter la chaîne privée généraliste Reshet 13. Cependant, la transaction contrevient à une mesure contre la concentration des médias. Selon Calcalist un groupe de CEO du secteur de la hightech rachète finalement Reshet 13. La chaîne passe dans les mains de Assaf Rappaport et des patrons du hightech. Assaf Rappaport est le cofondateur et PDG de l’entreprise de sécurité cloud Wiz, ainsi que le cofondateur de la startup Adallom, rachetée par Microsoft en 2015. Assaf Rappaport, patron de 39 ans, aux allures d’éternel adolescent et qui porte volontiers un T-shirt sur lequel est inscrit en anglais « créez votre propre magie ». L’animateur et producteur Arthur s’est associé récemment à Patrick Drahi, fondateur du groupe Altice, et à l’investisseur américain John Paulson pour racheter le canal israélien Reshet 13. Les trois hommes ont notamment tenu à affirmer « leur attachement aux valeurs sionistes ». Tech-backed Merit Spread Foundation, which will replace a proposed takeover by telecom tycoon Patrick Drahi, plans to invest about $120 million in the struggling broadcaster.
The Merit Spread Foundation, backed by a group of high-tech entrepreneurs led by Wiz co-founder Assaf Rappaport, is acquiring control of TV station Reshet 13 from Len Blavatnik. Access Industries, through which Blavatnik owns the channel, announced the agreement on Friday.
Merit’s entry will replace a group of investors led by businessman Patrick Drahi, whose attempt to acquire control of the network ran into regulatory difficulties.
